Overview of Presentation

Using Storytelling to Grow Your Success

In this one-hour session, join Dr. Karen Dietz, one of the movers and shakers in business storytelling, to experience how your stories authentically connect, deepen relationships, and inspire. If you want someone to remember you, your work, or your ideas – be a storyteller. If you want to make better decisions -- be a story listener who deliberately evokes and listens to stories to deepen understanding, analysis, and alignment. Learn how to start crafting your stories. Learn how to evoke and listen to stories for maximum impact. Take home tools and worksheets. Get ready to leverage storytelling for greater success.

During this workshop, you will:

1. Discover the neuroscience of storytelling and grow your storytelling skills

2. Acquire a simple story structure to use immediately

3. Practice your new story-listening skills

4. Increase your ability to promote positive connections and build long-lasting relationships

 

Speaker Bio:

Karen Dietz: The Storyteller For Business

Dr. Karen Dietz is a pioneer in transformational business storytelling and is one of the originals in the field.

Coaching, consulting, and workshop clients have gone on to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars, grow companies, change laws, improve their leadership + teamwork, and make a bigger difference in the world. Karen draws on her vast know-how to provide practical experience, guidance, and tools to get the job done.

Clients include Walt Disney Imagineering, Cedars Sinai, LG Electronics, California Bank & Trust, Avery Dennison, Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, Citrix, Just in Time for Foster Youth, Princess Cruises, SDSU Research Foundation, and Viasat.

In 2013 John Wiley Publishers recruited Karen for their Dummies series. Her book Business Storytelling for Dummies, with co-author Lori Silverman, became a bestseller within a year. Karen is also featured in 9 books on business storytelling. She opened the San Diego, CA 2013 TEDx conference with her talk on the power of story listening to change lives and companies.

She received her master’s and PhD in Folklore from the University of Pennsylvania.
